The Book Of Haggai - Building a Brighter Future

In 586 BC the city of Jerusalem and the Lord's temple were destroyed by the Babylonian empire under the leadership of King Nebuchadnezzar.  Most of its inhabitants were carried off as prisoners of war. Haggai is about a group of Jews returning to their homeland after being in exile for seventy years. The people returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple as God commanded, to rebuild their identity, and to rebuild their lives.  Hopefully it would lead to a brighter future.
