Personal Application - Consider Your Ways
God challenged the people to consider their ways in light of all the difficulties going on in their lives. Ultimately it was their refusal to obey God’s command to rebuild the temple that led to their current situation. God also asks us to consider our own ways when it comes to obeying Him. Here are helpful suggestions and questions you can use this week as you reflect on the sermon and Haggai 1:1-11.
Find a time and space that will allow for focused reflection
Take your Bible, a pen, and a notebook to write in
Spend the first few moments in silence as an acknowledgement of God’s greatness
Ask God to reveal answers to the following:
- What specifically has God asked you to do that you have not done yet? Why are you disobeying God in that matter?
- What has he asked you to stop doing, yet you keep doing? Why are you disobeying God in that matter?
- What has been the result of your disobedience? Do you like those results?
- Ask God for forgiveness for the ways in which you have disobeyed him.
- What do you believe God is asking you to do now? Will you do that? Why or why not?
